2015 ABC Workforce Conference
DocuWrx recently visited Ft. Lauderdale, FL to attend the 2015 ABC Workforce Conference, hosted at the Ft. Lauderdale Convention Center. This was another great opportunity to demonstrate Kosmas, network within the construction industry, and gather great feedback to continually improve our software. During the conference we were also able to witness the National Craft Championships, which proved to be an interesting and exciting competition amongst the various craftsmen in attendance.
One of the most valuable assets we have at DocuWrx are our ears. We are constantly receiving feedback and listening to various requests, thoughts, ideas and dreams of the perfect software solution for a construction company. Once our notes are sufficient and we fully understand the demands at hand, our marketing and consulting teams have demonstrated innate abilities to translate requested needs and features to the development team.
Having a large and diverse FileMaker development team allows us to continuously enhance User Interface, integrate new API plugins, and software features, all while researching cutting edge technologies and advancements to benefit our clients. We pride ourselves in the ability to turn a client request received on a monday into an updated feature by the end of the week.
Some of the discussed requests and features from this convention have already materialized within our development database, while many others have been added to the immediate task list for future development. A simple example of this is the upcoming ability to provide a URL link to anyone attempting to download a document or image stored within Kosmas.
Upon experiencing overwhelming interest in Kosmas from the General Contractor community, we have been working hard to implement a series of modules and features specific to fulfilling their needs. Kosmas was originally created from the perspective of a mid-sized subcontractor, in hopes that we could offer an enterprise level solution at elementary prices. Among other specific features, Kosmas will effectively handle scheduling of subcontractors, bid management, the submittal approval process, along with offering online pay applications and AIA billing with the upcoming updates.
Another improvement in progress is the ability to offer a simplified Time Clock system. Currently, users may access the time clock on any desktop, windows tablet, or iOS mobile device. Using an iPod touch, iPad, or iPhone can allow users to create timekeeping records without internet connection, then sync later when available. This still leaves a considerable demand from our clients to service their Android devices. FileMaker is currently not supported on Android devices, creating certain constraints to the capabilities of Kosmas. We are expecting to have considerable improvements with the release of FileMaker 14 in the near future, but have had success troubleshooting for now. A new web based Time Clock feature will soon be available across any device with internet access. Using this feature, Kosmas users will be able to submit a pin number, select a cost center, select the activity and review a summary of the punch record created.
