What’s better than chatting with experts from around the world about the latest FileMaker techniques? Being in Las Vegas, of course! It may have been hot outside, but in the conference halls at the Cosmopolitan Hotel, it was cool and packed with the very best FileMaker has to offer.
With the recent release of FileMaker 14, we now have a developer centric tool that’s been refined to maximize productivity to create truly enterprise class products. We watched the team at National Geographic show off how they’ve used FileMaker WebDirect to deploy their solutions to photographers and editors around the world. FileMaker also confirmed that Product Development firms, like DocuWrx, are now one of three cores that drive how FileMaker develops the platform for the future.
The best part of the convention are the people you meet. From CEOs of other large FileMaker development firms, to curious new developers who are just beginning to learn what FileMaker can do for them. I learned how FileMaker is used to manage data for the U.S. Rugby team, track land plots for the U.S. Government in the midwest, provide a means of communication between disparate database systems at Honeywell and run the operations of businesses all over the world.
Kosmas, DocuWrx’s ERP based in FileMaker, is one of the largest solutions ever created on the FileMaker platform. Although we have a large team based in Clearwater, Florida, we rely on some innovative code designed by other developers. Our integrated calendar is a heavily modified version of SeedCode’s DayBack calendar. We use 360Works’ Zulu 2 to integrate with Google, Exchange and Apple calendars. Geist Interactive’s BarCode Creator is integrated with our inventory system and we’ve installed their fmQBO (QuickBooks Online) product in all of our products including WebDirect. We’re a corporate sponsor of Goya’s BaseElements Plugin and rely heavily on their RestFM (FileMaker API) and RefreshFM (Updating Solutions) products. I had a chance to meet with the developers who’ve created these amazing products that allows Kosmas to perform so well for our clients.
Our team looks forward to next year’s DevCon and hope you’ll join us!
